Start cycling through the jungles of Sri Lanka and arrive at a small fisheries harbor where each team will get onboard their fishing boat with a local fisherman and navigate your way through the Indian Ocean and arrive in the small fishing village of Tangalle. Then the teams will get onto their tuk tuks and do a self drive to an ancient cave temple where they will explore the 1500 year old ruins

How Buddhist Monks live

A Day in the Life of a Monk

Monks lifestyle is governed by the Buddhist doctrine which states that they can't eat any solid meals after 12 noon and they can't cook their own meals which means they need to depend on the villagers for their daily meals. It's supposed to be a great good deed to offer food for the monks. We allow our guests to offer the final meal of their day where they get the chance to provide the different curries to the monks. The monks will bless the guests and then everyone can proceed to the ancient temple to explore the frescoes and ruins. The experience would finish with the guests enjoying the same meal they offered the monks

Inside the UNESCO Galle Fort the guests would visit a temple where they would meet the traditional mask carvers of Sri Lanka and then learn how to either carve or paint these traditional masks. Your host will explain the story behind these masks where some of these masks were used back in the day to drive away devils who the locals believed were making the people sick

A Festival of Gods

Perahera procession

The roots of the Perahera procession in Kandy dates back to the 3rd Century BC and it's one of the oldest festivals in the world. We recreate the entire festival in different locations around the island and most of the times inside the guests hotels for their viewing pleasure

Angampora martial arts show

Angampora was the fighting technique which was used back in the 14th and 15th century during the battles with the colonizers. This was a closely guarded family secret where not everyone was allowed to learn the fighting techniques. We would be brining this amazing fighting skills alive through an evening of entertainment where afterwards the guests can learn one or two self defense techniques and use the ancient weaponry as well

Back in the 1930s, Lionel Wendt along with the 43 Group created the cultural dance shows in Sri Lanka where the different dance and drumming styles were put together and the stories of the ancient believes were incorporated into this show as well
